Opulent Hallway

“Upon entering the floor, regardless of stair, elevator or other means, you will find yourself in a long hallway. It holds the appearance of modern opulence. Despite this, some things feel off. The elevator has the appearance of a freight elevator, rusty, antiquated and covered with grime. You can hear the lift motor let out a belabored shriek as the cables slip from time to time.
The staircases, each on opposite ends of the hallway seem to be built of stone. Cut into blocks and neatly fitted. The flickering light from the stairwell seems to indicate that they are lit by torches. Across from the elevator is a plain enough looking double door. As you walk down the hallway, you pass paintings and bust that are masterfully crafted, but of figures and events not of this world.
The doors are fairly plain by the rest of the decor. Made from a wood you do not recognize. It has pull handles made of copper, and the doors themselves seem to be carved from a single piece of wood. As you approach you detect a faint breeze, almost frigid. It carries a faint wiff of long undisturbed dust and fungal bloom. The briefest hint of decay, and something unknown lingers when the breeze fades. The flow seems to be coming from the smallest of gaps between the door and its frame.
