Back Bedroom

The bedroom is notably nothing like the other rooms. Firstly, the ceiling is much much higher, and the walls are completely dotted and covered in numerous framed paintings. All of different shapes and decor, none of which seem to match up with one another. All paintings are antiquated singular portraits of unknown faces and persons posing. The only common themes of these portraits are that all subjects are wearing old fashioned clothes from varying cultures, and all are smiling wildly. None are modern looking. Most are of men, and most of the men are bald headed and mustachioed. There are exceptions to this, such as several pictured dogs, one shirtless Native American, many women in large wedding dresses, various children in Victorian-England styled wear, a few 19th century firemen, construction workers, police officers and others of varying professions. The walls behind the portraits are coloured bright red, as is the deep fur carpet. There is a beige double bed in the corner of the room by a window, the only window on the floor. Visitors never agree on what they see outside through the window. In the center of the room is another beige double sofa.

This is where visitors will meet the one resident of Floor 723, known as the bald smiling man. The beige sofa has it’s back to the room’s entrance, so visitors always are greeted by the back of the man’s bright red, bald head. When moving into the room, one will take in the man’s somewhat unusual appearance, at which he will begin smiling and staring at whomever he sees. He is a tall, somewhat lanky male caucasian man of indeterminate age, in a beige polo shirt, beige shorts and beige tennis shoes. He is slightly too big for his seat. His head is a bit too short in height, a bit too wide in girth, and the complexion of his skin is a bright pinkish red colour, that does not indicate good cardiovascular health.

The strangest quality of the bald smiling man is his eyes. They are large, square shaped, shiny green emeralds that seem to protrude from their sockets. They have no pupils, because they are emeralds. They look as though they are worth quite a lot. The bald smiling man has never been spotted doing anything other than sitting on the beige sofa, smiling and staring at those who visit him. His arms never move from his lap. No one has ever heard him utter a word. Often found on the sofa beside him are numerous letters and notes previously left by visitors for those who visit next, usually assessments of the floor or writings about how unwell the visitors feel. The bald smiling man never seems to take notice of these writings. He only ever sits and stares with his giant emerald eyes, and wide pink smile.
