“After shopping for supplies at the Aldi, I returned my cart and upon receiving my quarter back a heavy wooden door appeared next to the carts. Curiosity overtook me. What was this door and where would it lead me?
I pushed mightily on the heavy wooden doors, easing open the rusted hinges. A massive spiral stone staircase awaited me. The path lit with magnificent stained glass windows depicting a man with a strange winged helmet. Every window on the way up the stairs showing this same man with the winged helmet. I do not not how long I traversed up the smooth stone staircase entranced as I was with the images of this winged helmet man in the windows. Up and up I climbed until I reached a landing of the stairwell.
At the landing was another oaken doorway with the numbers 201 etched into the right door and painted black. Seeing no handles I pushed with all my strength on the doors but they did not budge. I shouted at the doorway, ‘Who is the man in the winged helmet! I must know! Let me in you blasted door!’. Suddenly a keyhole appeared on the right door and my pocket felt burdened. Reaching in a found a large bronze key with wings on the end.
I used the winged key to open the oaken door with a loud ‘click’ and pushed my way into the room. It was a large cathedral like room with a single stained glass window on the far side depicting the same man with the winged helmet. The light from the window shone down upon a single object at the far end of the room. A winged helmet.
I softly stepped across the polished granite floors. As I approached the winged helmet, looking for traps, I heard a soft voice in my head. ‘Don the helmet’
Every step the voice grew louder. ‘Don the helmet’
By the time I reached the helmet the voice has grown to a cacophony of sound in my head ‘Don the helmet!’
I felt the soft white feathers of the wings and the voices stopped. The strange black metal felt cool in my hands. I donned the helm atop my head and felt the metal shape to me.
The voice spoke to me again ‘You are the man in the winged helmet.’
‘Welcome to floor #201’”
