Alone Among the Stars

As dictated by u/R3cl41m3r, on this floor is a small room with a table. The table has a deck of cards, a six-sided die, and a pamphlet. On the wall behind the table is a door. The pamphlet says:

“Here’s a game inspired by Alone Among the Stars and its many hacks. In it you are a STower pilgrim, going from Floor to Floor.

To explore a new Floor, roll the die, and then place cards face down equal to the number rolled. These cards represent the contents of your new Floor.

To reveal something on the Floor, roll the die again:

• On 1 or 2, it is well hidden.
• On 3 or 4, you come across it normally.
• On 5 or 6, you find it while you’re chilling.

The suit and rank tell you what you’ve found.

• Diamonds are mobile life forms, such as NPCs, animals, etc.
• Clubs are immobile life forms, such as plants, fungi, etc.
• Hearts are facilities and the like, such as restaurants, gaming spaces, music, hotels, etc.
• Spades are stuff not covered by the above.

And for the ranks:

• Ace: It’s a pop-cultural reference.
• 2: It’s spiral-shaped or spiral-related.
• 3: It has a retro theme.
• 4: It resembles a cult-like activity ( note: we’re not a cult! )
• 5: It is shrouded in mystery.
• 6: It’s a near-perfect replica of something else.
• 7: It’s vital to the STower’s functioning.
• 8: It’s dangerous and/or horrifying.
• 9: It’s well made.
• 10: It’s explicitly magical.
• Jack: It’s connected to Floor Pizza.
• Queen: It’s connected to Mustard Sandwich.
• King: It’s connected to Ceiling Pancakes.

When you discover something, be sure to write it down before you continue, and roll again. Once you’ve found everything, you will have to leave, and the Floor will reset. Each Floor has its own seed, so be sure to write that down as well. You can do this as many times as you like. If you enjoyed a particular Floor, you can recreate it elsewhere. Enjoy!”
