Floor 298

Astronomy Observation Deck

This floor is an astronomy observation deck. Since u/himey72 has already made an excellent write-up about it, I felt like it would simply be rude to make my own, as such the following description has been provided by them:
“In the vast tapestry of the Spiral Tower, where each floor unfolds like a chapter from a cosmic tale, Floor 298 holds a special place in the hearts of stargazers, scientists, and dreamers alike. This level, affectionately dubbed “Thor’s Helmet,” in homage to the nebula SH2-298, serves as a bridge between the earthly and the celestial, a place where the heavens open up to those who dare to look up.
The legend of Floor 298 begins with its mysterious architect, Himey, a figure shrouded in as much mystery as the tower itself. Himey, whose love for the stars was unparalleled, envisioned a sanctuary where the sky was not a limit but a canvas. It is said that on a night when the stars aligned in a way unseen for millennia, Himey received a vision. This vision was of a place where every person could touch the cosmos, not through telescopes alone but through an understanding woven into the very fabric of their being.
To bring this vision to life, Himey employed magic long forgotten, merging it with the cutting-edge technology of the time. The creation of Floor 298 was Himey’s magnum opus, a floor that defied the architectural limitations of having numerous floors above it. Through a spell that bends light and perception, the sky above is visible in its entire majestic expanse, turning the floor into a window to the universe.
At the heart of Floor 298 lies a planetarium, not just of scientific significance but of magical importance. Here, the stars and planets move not only in accordance with physics but also dance to the rhythm of ancient magic. This planetarium is the soul of Floor 298, where celestial bodies tell their stories, and the mysteries of the universe unfold before one’s eyes.
Surrounding the planetarium are open-air terraces, adorned with telescopes and astronomical equipment, gifts from Himey to all who seek the mysteries of the cosmos. These terraces serve as both observatories and classrooms, where knowledge is as boundless as the sky itself. It is on these terraces that one can hear the whispers of the stars, guiding the lenses of the telescopes to uncover secrets light-years away.
The banks of workstations, filled with data from telescopes around the globe, including the Hubble and James Webb Space Telescopes, are a testament to Himey’s belief in the power of sharing knowledge. Here, enthusiasts, scholars, and curious minds come together, forming a community bound by their love for the cosmos.
The legend of Floor 298 is also a tale of unity and discovery. It is said that Himey’s spirit still wanders the floor, invisible to the eye but felt in the heart, ensuring that the floor remains a beacon of knowledge and exploration. Himey’s ultimate wish was for Floor 298 to be a place where the mysteries of the universe could be unraveled, not by individuals, but by humanity as a whole, coming together in their quest for understanding.
Thus, Floor 298 stands as a monument to the curiosity that lies within us all, a reminder that no matter how high we build our towers, the true journey is in reaching for the stars.”
